Student Goal:

Goal of this lesson is to teach students the basics of salon functions and ownership as it relates  to future salon careers. Salon ownership is extremely difficult and during this project students will learn what it takes to finance a salon, bills, requirements according to state law, product knowledge and so much more...

Seniors- Salon Project Part 1- Level 3- MP3

 

Paper 1 -- 200 words minimum typed as to the type of salon you are going to design. Include type of shop and why, location and why. (research different areas and consider what the rent would be)

Paper 2 – Create the name of your salon, if ficticious, register with bureau, research and explain why you must register a fictitious name, include fictitious name fee.

Paper 3 – Incorporation- Explain what incorporation is and why an individual might incorporate their salon. Research incorporation and fill out incorporation forms.

Paper 4 – Tally sheet of costs involved for the corporation as well as the bureau fee.

Paper 5, 6, – Design logo and have that logo displayed on a business card and business stationary.

Note: Save all your work to a flash drive!!!!!

1. You will have a budget of $150,000.00 for the entire project. You may not exceed this budget.

2. Complete a blue print on the layout of your salon. (Hand Drawing- label where stations, shampoo sinks, bathrooms, breakroom, etc. according to State Board of Cosmetology Law)

3. Choose all salon furniture. Include; furniture pictures and list prices. Example: 10 stations @ 500.00 a station = $5000.00.

4. Choose the colors of your salon, type a paper as to why you chose those colors. Attach paint swatch and floor tile if possible.

5. Choose products for your salons including haircolor, styling products, shampoo, conditioners, waxing (if waxing is offered), etc. Estimate what you will need for an entire month!

6. Fill out Initial Salon application. Refer to Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology Web site.

7. Do a tally sheet for all costs for MP 3

***Remember that your entire budget for this project cannot exceed $150,000.00 & you must hand in this project in this order!!!!!
