Update 5/26/20

Good Afternoon Class!

I hope everyone had a great memorial day, it was indeed a gorgeous day! I have been receiving a lot of questions as far as the summer program and whats going on... Unfortunately there will be no summer program due to the pandemic but I can assure you we are going to work with you in every way to complete your hours as the cosmetology department discusses different things we can possibly do. When/If things are finalized you will be notified but as of right now, your best option is so continue online with Milady Mindtap. Keep going ! It records the time you spend in there so take full advantage of it. That goes for both juniors and seniors. Please keep going, get as much education & hours as possible as I can give up to 250 hours for online curriculum. I have also been questioned on when you can get your kits, someone from school will call you, they are reaching out to the seniors first for obvious reasons.

Good morning class!

Its been so nice to hear from so many of you and I am so glad everyone is hanging in as I know how hard this is. You are all absolutely incredible, not to mention I know online learning is frustrating and doesn't make up for being in the classroom with your friends and yours truly ;) Nothing can replace our hands on learning but in the meantime I encourage each and every one of you to follow popular hairstylists and brands on instagram, facebook, & youtube! Stay educated from people like Sam Villa, Beth Minardi, Brands like Redken, Joico , Matrix, Paul Mitchell, Mizani, never stop learning!

As for your assignment this week, you guessed it... Ch 10 along with emailing me a small description of an educational video you watched from above sources or others you have found! Please tell me the artist, the brand they are using, what they did and why or why not you liked the technique @ amessina@cmths.org.

I hope everyone is doing well, it was so nice to see some of you last week on bongo (Milady Mindtap Meeting). Grades are coming up quick, if you are not participating in Milady Mindtap not only are you losing hours, but your also going to fail the marking period so please ladies and gentleman, I do NOT want that to happen. Good morning Ladies & Gentleman,

I want to first start off by telling you how much I miss you all and truly hope everyone is doing well as they can. Remember your mental health is just as important as your physical health so take breaks from social media & computer assignments. Get in touch with the people you love! Call them, FaceTime them, email them, anything you can do to abide by social distancing but keep in touch and check on each other. That's what its all about! We will get through this stronger than ever! Also, Get some fresh air when possible :) I have some important information I hope you can relay to any classmates you talk to that have not yet emailed me for their access codes. Any unused access codes will be expiring tonight! So if you do not have an access code or have not accessed your account at all since getting one from me, its going to EXPIRE. Those that have logged in are completely fine so please don't worry.

Its been so good to hear from you all, it makes my day so much brighter ( literally... can the clouds, rain & wind stop already?!) I am so happy to hear you guys are being strong and doing well! There will be sunnier days in the future, I promise! As for this week, starting today you will be continuing on your theory education to Ch 6. General Anatomy & Physiology (Under General Sciences) . You have the entire week to complete this chapter. You guys are doing awesome!

Hello my dear students, I hope you are all well and safe. Your assignment for tomorrow - Monday is to email me and let me know how you are doing (amessina@cmths.org). I want to make sure you are all doing the best we can during this stressful time. Your mental and physical  well being mean so much to me and I want you to try to take sometime for yourself ; reflect & relax. Although this is not what any of us have ever imagined we need to stick together (separately)  and be positive. I miss you all terribly & I know the school being closed for the rest of the year is very difficult for all of us. I need everyone to stay positive as we WILL weather this storm together! I have been getting multiple emails about retrieving your cosmetology kits from school but at this time I do not have an answer. When I get an answer I will update on here and email those of you that have reached out to me. I will be posting a new assignment on Monday so you are all able to get your cosmetology hours in! Please do me a favor and text a fellow cos. student or post on social media for the rest of our cosmetology students to get on board for our new online learning platform, I still have some that have not registered. Thank you for your help, your responsiveness, & your dedication to this program!!!! #WE GOT THIS!!!!!

Wow!!!! I am blown away from the amount of you that are logged in and completed your assignment! I am so proud to have a class that cares so much about their education and helped me in spreading the word about our new online learning platform. Thank you all for your amazing work ethic! For those of you just getting on board, don't worry, its a smooth transition but please read previous updates on this page so you know exactly what is going on. - Complete entire Chapter and take all assessments & tests. Please remember it records the time you have spent on the chapter, any idle time or time not actually on a specific chapter assigned will not count towards your timing. The State Board of Cosmetology requires 1,250 hours of education for Cosmetologists. During
the declared disaster emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic, up to 250 hours may be completed through
distance education in the following curriculum areas:
Professional Practices, including: Bacteriology, Disinfection, Sanitation; Professional Attitude; Business Practices;
and PA Cosmetology Law.
Sciences, including: Histology, Trichology, Chemistry, Physiology, Cosmetic Dermatology, and Electricity.
